Two of the area’s most senior grades were honoured at this year’s British Championships which were held in the prestigious Nottingham Arena
The presentations were made by Master David Oliver 7th Dan, Chairman of the TAGB and president of Tae Kwon-Do International. Master Oliver is one of the most important figures in European Tae Kwon-Do.
Master Brian Towndrow, instructor of Derby Academy, grading examiner and area co-ordinator for the TAGB was promoted to 7th Degree Black Belt. Master Towndrow has been training in Tae Kwon-Do since 1974 and has been steering the North Midlands area for 20 years.
Mr Tom Coleman, instructor of Ashbourne, Uttoxeter, and Wirksworth schools, and TAGB North Midlands Development Committee Secretary and Treasurer, was promoted to 6th Degree Black Belt. Mr Coleman is only the 3rd person from our area to be promoted to 6th Dan, along side Master Towndrow and Mr Ralph Minott.
Congratulations to both Master Towndrow and Mr Coleman on this outstanding achievement, they are an asset to the North Midlands and an inspiration to us all.
