IN MEMORY OF LUKE CAMPBELL
As some of you may have read, or seen it on the news, regarding the brutal murder of a young man, Luke Campbell.

Luke was a member of Belper TKD School and although he only did one grading with us he will be sadly missed by the many friends he gained whilst at my club.

I would just like to say that myself and my club would like to offer our deepest sympathy to his family.

IN MEMORY OF LUKE CAMPBELL 1988 - 2008

Friends

Karl Duro 4th Dan.

MacMillan Charity Seminar
Macmillan Charity Seminar Success

Sunday 3rd Aug, saw over 40 students decend on Mr Karl Duro's club in Belper, to train with 2 of the North Midlands Senior Instrucors.

Students (and Instructors) from clubs across the North midlands, were welcomed by Mr Duro, who explained that his clubs were taking part in many chrity events in the month of August, and that this was just the 1st one. All the funds raised from these events were going to go to MacMilland Charities.

Students of all grades attended, and in the 1st half of the session, Mr Wright worked with the black tags and black belts, while Mr Coleman put the colour belts through their paces. Both instructors challenged all the students with some different techniques and applications and the use of a few "props" to aid the learning. Then for the 2nd half of the seminar, the instructotors changed groups.

Both instructors made the session fun and very informative, and everyone who attended left the session buzzing and wishing that there was time for more.

The Seminar raised over £200 for the charity, and thanks must go to Mr Wright & Mr Coleman for a splendid session, and to Mr Duro and his Clubs for putting on such a wonderfull TKD experience, and for being so warm and welcoming to all the students who attended.

Mr Duro and his club are doing fund raising for MacMillan charities all through August, so if you would like more information, or like to go along to any of his fund raising ventures, then contact him on -email-

North Midlands Area Champs 2008
T.A.G.B. North Midlands Regional Championships
 Sunday 20th July 2008

Once again, it was a hot summers day that greeted over 450 competitors to the Moorways Sports Centre in Derby.

The event was organised and overseen by Master Brian Towndrow 7th Dan and Mr Ralph Minott 6th Dan.

Running the championships from the mats were the Senior Referees Mr Les Wright 6th Dan, Mr Tod Wurr 6th Dan, Mr Tony Littlejohns 5th Dan and Mr Mark Farnham 5th Dan.

Over the years the Championship has grown from its humble beginning at the old Dean Street venue, to an event that this year was run with the assistance of over 90 Officials.

To give you an idea of the size that this annual event has become, we had:

75 different TAGB schools compete.

98 Divisions.

Over 450 Competitors, of which, over 260 were children.

We also had a record number of Clubs attending from outside of the North Midlands Development Committee (NMDC). These clubs brought with them a wealth of talent, with many of them scoring very high on the final score table.

The highest scoring “Visiting Clubs” were as follows:

Bourne:  28 points.
Bolton:   26 points.

Torfaen:  20 points.

This years top four NMDC clubs were as follows:

Ellesmere Port:  34 points.

Neston:             19 points.
Nantwich:          19 points.
Nottingham:       17 points.

Master Brian Towndrow and all at the NMDC would like to extend their congratulations and thanks to all Competitors, Instructors, Officials, Friends & Families.

The effort made by these individuals played a huge part in making this years Competition one of the most successful yet.

Thanks again.

See you all next year!
